007 Bollinger: The latest James Bond film is due to be released next month and having been fleetingly glimpsed or sipped on-screen in 14

Bond films, it seems likely that Bollinger will crop up somewhere in the script. It is 40 years since Roger Moore first mentioned Bollinger in Moonraker and since then Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have all enjoyed this lovely champagne. I once asked Bollinger whether it paid for this recognition, and it said no. Anyway, to celebrate this 40year association, Bollinger has produced a limited-edition of its Special Cuvée, inset, in a distinctive box and with 007 on the neck collar. This special edition will be available from September 1, at around £50, though Penistone Wine Cellars has stock already.

Say cheese: The Annual Martinez Wine Extravaganza will be back at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley on September 28, from 2 to 8pm. As well as over 150 wines available to taste, there will be cheese and wine tastings hosted by Andy Swinscoe, of the Courtyard Dairy, and yours truly. The cheese and wine matching sessions are free, but you will need to buy a ticket to the whole event, costing £25, available from

Martinez Wines in Ilkley and Bingley, or online. All proceeds go to charity.

From co-op: I visited the bright, beautiful and very clean winery of

Diez Siglos a year or so ago and was impressed. Diez Siglos is a co-operative of 65 growers who control a huge area of Verdejo vineyards, and make a range of wines, in particular own-label Rueda for UK supermarkets. The Morrisons Rueda at £7.75 is a fine example. But Diez Siglos also has its own range of wines, and I am delighted that Cellar Selected (www.cellarselected.com) is now stocking Diez Siglos Rueda 2020, at £9.35. It has crisp, lively citrus flavours sprinkled with herbs. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, you will like this.
