Public beat the bobbies in test

-

A STUDY has found the public know more about issues which are integral to policing than some officers.

Academics at London South Bank University (LSBU) questioned 44 officers and 56 members of the public on legal topics including police procedures, dealing with mentally ill people, and eyewitness memory.

Police got an average of 61 per cent right – while the public respondents averaged 63 per cent.

Senior lecturer Dr Julia Shaw said: “It is expected that the research will be used to inform police training in the future.”
