Protests over nursery axe

CHILDREN WILL join parents marching against the closure of a college nursery in Hull today.

It comes as Hull College prepares to close three nurseries on December 31, including Queens Gardens in Hull.

Hull College Group, which also runs nurseries at West Park and Goole, said it followed years of successive losses.

However Shaune Clarkson from the GMB, which is organising today’s march, said they disputed the figures, claiming that instead of being in the red, the site at Queens Gardens had actually made £40,000.

He said: “We believe there is no justification to close the nursery.”
