Russia’s contest singer is banned

Russia’s contestant for this year’s Eurovision song contest has been banned because she performed in Crimea.

Yulia Samoylova, 27, was chosen as Russia’s entry in the May 11-13 contest in Kiev. But Samoylova has toured in Russiaannexed Crimea without entering it by going through the border with the Ukrainian mainland.
