Long-established pump manufacturer moves to new city premises

-

PUMP MANUFACTURER Ernest H Hill has relocated to new city premises.

The Sheffield-based company, which was established in 1841, has acquired a site on Longacre Way in Holbrook, supported by funding from Royal Bank of Scotland.

The building, which is set amongst three acres of woodland and landscaped grounds, has been completely renovated and extended and will accommodate the firm’s growing operations.

The company extended the building and also built a new canteen and welfare area for its employees during breaks.

It also built an outdoor eating and barbecue area for use during warmer months and created a nature trail through the woodland on the three acre site.

Dominic Hewins, owner of Ernest H Hill, said: “We have the most incredible and amazing team in place at Ernest H Hill and they are at the centre of everything we do. As well as needing more space to run our operation, our decision to move was also based upon our desire to invest in our surroundings to create a comfortable working environment for the team to enjoy.”

About to enter its 176th year, Ernest H Hill manufactures pumps, lubrication, garage and workshop equipment under the Hill Pumps brand.

The firm also produces pumps to charge air rifles under the Hill Air Pump brand.

Originally focused on the domestic automotive market, Ernest H Hill now concentrates on a broader range of industries including aviation, agricultural, industrial and leisure.

About 70 per cent of the company’s activities are carried out internationally compared with 30 per cent in 1997.
