Another inquiry ‘too expensive’
MR BURNS-WILLIAMSON told The Yorkshire Post that he made Mr Gilmore’s legal team aware of the progress investigating the whistleblower claims last summer, and that he retired a few days later.
He said continuing with another investigation “would not be in the public interest” as it would mean extra costs and delays. Mr Gilmore’s solicitor Ernie Waterworth said his client denied the claims: “Spurious, anonymous allegations surfaced during the time of Mr Gilmore’s suspension when it became obvious that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing by him. These anonymous allegations were used to continue to justify Mr Gilmore’s redeployment away from his duties at West Yorkshire Police.”
