Runners overcome fire, mud and ice challenges
THOUSANDS OF adrenalineseekers tackled fire, ice, electricity and mud as Total Warrior returned to Bramham Park, near Leeds, for the fourth year.
More than 7,000 runners took on 30 obstacles over a 12km course through the stately home’s estate.
Competitors jumped fire, tackled cargo-net climbs, crawled under barbed wire and clambered over giant A-frames as part of the challenge.
They also saw themselves plunged into 10 tonnes of ice cubes and faced electrocution before they got to enjoy a giant 30-metre water slide.
For the first time, children could also participate in the challenge with a 2km Junior Warrior course.
The challenge for youngsters featured 10 obstacles for children aged between six and 11 to test young daredevils.
David Gaffney, from Total Warrior, which organises the challenging events, said: “This is the fourth year Total Warrior has been held at Bramham Park’s 5,000-acre working estate, surrounding the grand 17thcentury house and its impressive gardens.
“Total Warrior is the pinnacle of obstacle course racing in the UK, with around 60,000 people having completed its sell-out events in Leeds, the Lake District and Edinburgh since 2011.
“Its gruelling courses are carefully designed to satisfy the nation’s growing appetite for extreme physical challenges in extremely muddy conditions.”
The obstacle course was in place on Saturday and Sunday in the grounds of Bramham Park, near Wetherby.
