Right royal battle as TV dramas chase awards

SUMPTUOUS ROYAL shows will go head to head at the TV Choice Awards, where The

Crown will take on Victoria to be named best new drama.

The expensive Netflix series, starring Yorkshire’s Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, will compete with ITV’s production about the young Queen Victoria, starring Jenna Coleman, as well as

The Good Karma Hospital and Little Boy Blue. Police dramas Broadchurc­h and Line of Duty will face off with Our Girl and Poldark to be named best drama series, while Call The Midwife, Casualty, Doctor Who and The Durrells are all nominated for the best family drama prize. In the best entertainm­ent show category, All Round To Mrs Brown’s is nominated

alongside Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show, while DIY: SOS: The Big Build will

compete with Gogglebox, Long Lost Family and Tattoo Fixers for the best lifestyle show gong. The awards will be presented on September 4.
