Performance of adult social care teams falls at scandal-hit council

-

ADULT SOCIAL care performance levels have broadly fallen in Rotherham, according to a new report.

Documents provisionally outline that around two thirds of the measures used to assess performance have decreased in the borough over the last year.

This is mostly due to survey feedback from carers and those who use the service, a report for councillors in the district reveals.

It comes in a week where it was revealed that more powers are set to be returned to the authority because of its improvements after the child grooming scandal.

Local Government Secretary Sajid Javid has proposed powers including waste collection and community safety, currently handled by government commissioners, be given back to elected councillors.

The Key Performance Indicator results for adult social care in 2016/17 provides an early suggestion of how well the service has carried out its duties in order to identify areas for improvement.

Rotherham Council members met yesterday for the Health Select Commission, when these initial results were on the agenda.

A report reads: “Performance overall has been mixed with approximately one third of measures improving and two thirds declining. Perception results from Service User and Carer surveys account for most of the declining performance indicators.”

Final, more detailed results are due to be presented in January after data is released in the autumn.

Some of the results are formed by the adult social care outcomes framework, which measures how well care and support services achieve what matters most to people.
