Glastonbury favourite Corbyn declares he received free tickets

-

JEREMY CORBYN has declared receiving two free Glastonbury Festival tickets for his main stage appearance – three tickets fewer than his deputy Tom Watson.

The Labour leader, according to the latest register of MPs’ financial interests, said he gave the free passes to a family member.

They were donated by organisers Glastonbury Festivals Events Limited and worth a total of £476 – which equates to £238 per ticket, the basic rate for Glastonbury entry.

Labour deputy leader Tom Watson, also Shadow Culture Secretary, received “five tickets with hospitality” from entertainment giant Live Nation for the 2017 event.

He said they were valued at £2,445, received on June 16 and accepted on June 22.

Mr Corbyn was cheered as he addressed thousands of people at the Somerset festival’s Pyramid Stage.

Seven Nation Army were part of the rapturous reception he received, as he sought to build on the momentum generated by his party’s gains at the General Election.

Mr Corbyn urged Theresa May to call another general election and also introduced US hip hop duo Run The Jewels before making an appearance at the Left Field tent during last month’s event.

His two tickets were accepted on June 24, the date of his appearance.

The previous year, Mr Corbyn received two tickets valued at £456, again given to a family member, although his appearance at Worthy Farm was cancelled after voters backed Brexit in the EU referendum.
