Slingsby toasts listings with major retailers

-

ARTISAN GIN producer Slingsby is toasting two new major listings with retail giants Marks & Spencer and John Lewis.

Harrogate-based Slingby’s signature London Dry Gin and Yorkshire Rhubarb Gin will be stocked in 69 Marks & Spencer stores across Yorkshire and Lancashire from this month onwards.

Both gins will also feature on the shelves of 12 John Lewis stores nationwide, including the partnership’s flagship store on London’s Oxford Street, as part of the retailer’s new Gin Library promotion from September.

Marcus Black, co-founder and managing director of Spirit of Harrogate, the firm behind Slingsby, said: “We are delighted by these significant listings as we seek to expand our retail distribution outside of the Yorkshire region.

“Even more pleasing is that the growing army of Slingsby fans who are driving demand in bars, hotels and restaurants are increasingly able to purchase our gins more widely to enjoy at home.

“We believe that our standout blue bottle and unique Yorkshire rhubarb gin provide real points of difference in an increasingly congested market and that both M&S and John Lewis customers will really appreciate our multiaward-winning products.”

Slingsby says it makes its London Dry and Yorkshire Rhubarb gins using ingredients sourced locally from across Yorkshire.

Launched by Mr Black and Mike Carthy, Slingsby Gin is named after William Slingsby, who, in 1571, discovered the unique natural spring water from the TewitWell in Harrogate.

“Slingsby did things differently, thought differently and had a vision that others considered to be extraordinary or even, a little odd; he epitomised the spirit of Harrogate,” says the co-founder of Slingsby Gin.

Even more pleasing is that the growing army of Slingsby fans Marcus Black, co-founder and managing director of Spirit of Harrogate
