Man charged over theft of crash car

A man has appeared in court charged with burglary and the theft of a Mercedes Benz, which was later pursued by police and crashed into two other cars.

The 22-year-old man from Bradford is accused of breaking into a house in St Mark’s Avenue, Harrogate, on Monday and stealing the Mercedes.

He is also accused of dangerous driving, and driving without a licence or insurance.

The man was remanded into custody until October 9.
