Inquiries after body found in canal

Police are investigating after a body was found in the canal off Globe Road. Police said inquries were ongoing to establish the circumstances.

A spokesman said officers liaised with the fire and rescue service. Emergency service vehicles lined up along Whitehall Road where steps lead down to the canal towpath.

Officers taped off part of the towpath along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which runs parallel to Globe Road.
