City poems inspire track backed by stars

-

A SONG inspired by schoolchildren’s poems about Hull and backed by stars of the music world is released today.

Culture Clash has been recorded by talented young singers from across the city who took to the microphone alongside multiplatinum-selling vocalist Jonathan Ansell, best known as the high tenor in the group G4, The Garnett Family who starred in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent and rapper NB who wrote the song.

The rap star said: “Every lyric in the song was inspired by the tremendously creative poems written by primary school children from across the city.

“To take their words and shape them into a song that many of them are actually singing on has been an amazing experience.”

NB’s brother Alstrumental produced the track which includes the lyrics: “I’m from the place of the pattie butty, bridge and Ronson – Wilberforce, Larkin and Amy Johnson”.

Culture Clash is available to buy on all digital platforms today while a music video has been uploaded to YouTube.

The song will be performed live for the first time at a concert at Hull City Hall at 7pm on Friday when the song’s cast of professional artists will be joined on stage by more than 200 children from seven schools and the Hey! Let’s Sing Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust staff choir.

Lucy Vere, a member of the choir, said: “We are delighted with the song and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

“Let’s hope that people really get behind it and we can have some chart success, we might even be able to push for a Christmas number one.”

Tickets for Friday’s concert are priced from £15 and are available via www.hulltheatres.co.uk
