£1m of gems are ‘stolen on train’

THEFT: A jewellery dealer’s suitcase containing gems worth £1m was stolen from him on a train in London.

British Transport Police are investigat­ing the theft from the man last Wednesday.

The dealer boarded the 7.03pm service at Euston to Birmingham New Street.

He put his case of 40 gems including diamonds on a luggage rack, but when the train arrived at Rugby it was missing.
