Roberts back in Wales contention

Harlequins centre Jamie Roberts has been called into Wales’ autumn Test squad as injury cover.

Roberts, who has won 93 caps, missed out on a place in the original 36-man party, but he has reported for duty at Wales’ training base, along with another call-up in Cardiff Blues prop Scott Andrews.

Wales are awaiting an update on centre Jonathan Davies’s fitness after he injured his ankle during Saturday’s 29-21 defeat against Australia.

Although coach Warren Gatland looks set to make several changes for Saturday’s appointment with Georgia, 65 times-capped Davies is an integral part of his autumn plans. World champions New Zealand are Wales’ opponents on November 25 and then South Africa seven days later.

Scotland have called up Newcastle prop Jon Welsh after losing three players to injury.

WP Nel, Tim Swinson and Rob Harley have all been ruled out of the remainder of Scotland’s autumn Test campaign.

Edinburgh prop Nel suffered a fractured arm during Saturday’s victory over Samoa while Glasgow lock Swinson sustained a broken hand.

Swinson’s Warriors teammate Harley suffered a knee injury in training last week and will also miss the upcoming encounters against New Zealand and Australia.
