Wenger charged after penalty row

-

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been charged following his conduct in the referee’s changing room after Sunday’s game against West Brom, the Football Association have announced.

Wenger was furious with referee Mike Dean, who had awarded West Brom a late penalty at The Hawthorns for a handball by Calum Chambers.

Jay Rodriguez converted the spot-kick to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Baggies after James McClean’s own goal had earlier given Arsenal the lead.

Wenger has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge.

Arsenal host Chelsea in the Premier League tonight. Sead Kolasinac limped off against West Brom after taking a knock to his ankle and the defender is now expected to be out for a minimum of two weeks.

Laurent Koscielny is also still struggling with an Achilles injury, with Wenger rating the Frenchman’s chances of facing Chelsea at 30 per cent. Mesut Ozil, who has a knee problem, has a “small chance” and will be assessed.

Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud are both out with hamstring injuries, along with Nacho Monreal, who has an ankle problem.

Chelsea have no fresh injury problems. Defender David Luiz (knee) and forward Charly Musonda (groin) remain out, but both have returned to training and could feature in Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Norwich.
