Landlord attacked outside his pub

Witnesses are being sought after a pub landlord was assaulted during the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Police yesterday said the attack happened outside the Board Inn in Church Street, Whitby, at about 2am.

A spokesman said the landlord needed hospital treatment for an injury to his mouth. A window was also broken during the incident.

Officers arrested a 21-yearold man who has been released under investigation.
