From Las Vegas to Scarborough for pop superstar Spears
IT HAS been a show that has dazzled Las Vegas, and was responsible for a million tickets being sold.
And now Britney Spears is bringing her pop spectacular across the Atlantic – with a gig planned in Scarborough.
The singer announced yesterday that she will undertake a limited tour of the show, entitled
Britney: Piece Of Me, in Europe and on the East Coast of the USA – where she will perform in intimate venues to capture the feel of the Vegas production.
Among the gigs she is due to stage will be a concert at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre, which has a 6,500-strong capacity, on August 17. The 36-yearold singer, whose breakthrough hit ...Baby One More Time was released in 1998 while she was still a teenager, has earned a total of six number-one debuting albums on the Billboard 200 chart and eight top ten albums in the UK. She has also had 24 top 40 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 – five of which went to number one – and 22 top ten UK singles and five UK number ones.
Meanwhile, singer George Ezra has added an extra date in North Yorkshire as part of Forest Live, the annual series of summer concerts organised by the Forestry Commission.
Ezra, who is one of the biggest selling male artists of the decade and whose hits include Budapest and Blame It On Me, will play the gig at Dalby Forest, near Pickering, on Sunday, June 14.
He is already playing shows in Westonbirt Arboretum, near Tetbury, and Cannock Chase Forest, near Rugeley in Staffordshire.
