Piece Hall to host Fiona Bruce and Antiques Roadshow this summer

-

THE HISTORIC Piece Hall is set to be the real star of the show when Fiona Bruce and the team of Antiques Roadshow experts head to Yorkshire this summer.

Now in its 41st year, the programme, which is a staple of Sunday evening television viewing, is set to film at the Grade I-listed cloth hall on July 8.

Nicky Chance-Thompson, chief executive of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “The Antiques

Roadshow is such a perfect fit for The Piece Hall – beautiful items being brought to the iconic setting of our landmark building.

“This much-loved programme will receive a warm Yorkshire welcome from all of us here and we are excited to see what interesting and wonderful antiques and curiosities will be seen by visitors and viewers alike later this year.”

The Piece Hall reopened on Yorkshire Day last year after a major restoration which cost £19m and took a year longer than predicted. It was, however, worth the wait and when the programme airs it should further raise the profile of the site, where 18th-century textile merchants came to trade cloth.

Robert Murphy, series producer of the Antiques

Roadshow, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing cherished objects and hearing personal stories from the people of Yorkshire and beyond.”

Those wanting to take objects for valuation can turn up on the day.
