Top marques for car maker in Royal visit
TOP MOTOR manufacturer Ginetta has been producing high-performance vehicles since 1958 and its vehicles now race on every continent.
And yesterday Garforth-based Ginetta, part of LNT Group, got the Royal seal of approval when Princess Anne paid a visit.
The Princess Royal met Ginetta team members and unveiled a commemorative plaque to celebrate the start of the company’s 60th anniversary year.
Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said: “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to show the Princess Royal the origins of this fabulous British marque which has fed generations of motorsport passion, created thousands of jobs over the decades and secured Britain and Yorkshire a place on the global motorsport map.”
A trip to Yorkshire saw Princess Anne visit Castleford cheesemonger Cryer and Stott, which has been in business for 20 years after starting off on a market stall.
She also unveiled a commemorative plaque at Leeds College of Building’s new £17m training facility. College principal Ian Billyard said: “As the UK’s only specialist construction college, our Hunslet campus was specifically designed to provide a modern learning environment, where both our students and staff are able to thrive. It’s also enabled us to continue building on our high standards of training, as well as expanding the number of courses and qualifications we offer, in order for us to stay ahead of the UK’s rapidly evolving construction industry.
“It’s a landmark building in the South Bank area of Leeds which we are all very proud of and we are honoured by this Royal visit.”
Princess Anne also visited scratchcard firm Scientific Games Lottery in Leeds during her trip.
