-

FORMER DEPUTY Prime Minister Lord Prescott visited North Yorkshire food and drink business HECK! Food as part of a new Channel 5 show.

The Bedale-based business opened its doors to Lord Prescott for the Made in Yorkshire programme which screens next Tuesday.

Isabel Spurway from Masham and Mica Proctor from Bramham showed him how to make HECK!’s delicious award-winning sausages and burgers at it’s sausage HQ in Kirklington.

“We’re really proud of our Yorkshire roots and it was great fun inviting John Prescott to visit the factory to film along side us,” said Jamie Keeble, HECK!’s cofounder.

“Isabel and Mica were real stars of the show.”

In the celebratory documentary, Lord Prescott goes behind the scenes of Yorkshire’a most famous factories to discover the surprising secrets behind the region’s iconic foods.

The series sees him visit the homes of Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, Vale of Mowbray Pork Pies, HECK! sausages and Whitakers Chocolates, all of which involves him meeting hard-working Yorkshire staff up against tough deadlines to produce huge orders worth millions of pounds.

Ms Proctor said: “John really rolled his sleeves up and was quite a whizz at making sausages.

“He did well to keep up with the experts on the sausage line and we also had a lot of fun inventing a new recipe, a Hull banger.”

HECK! was formed by the Keeble family who sold their old Debbie & Andrew’s brand in 2005 and started HECK! in 2013.

It currently turns over around £25m a year.
