IoD ambassador is named to provide a voice for the region

AN EXPERIENCE­D Yorkshire businessma­n has been appointed by the Institute of Directors (IoD) to ensure the region’s voice is heard on a national scale.

Steve Williams, who works as a non-executive director with local SMEs (small-and-medium-sized enterprise­s), has joined the business organisati­on as an ambassador.

The ambassador network comprises high-profile business leaders who represent and promote the IoD in their area.

Mr Williams has 30 years of board-level experience with companies including Lonrho and Appleyard Group. His sector expertise includes automotive, retail and media.

He said: “I specialise in helping organisati­ons to optimise their business potential, providing an independen­t view in the boardroom..

“I’m looking forward to helping the IoD to inspire, connect and support individual­s on their business journey.”

Natalie Sykes, regional director of the IoD in Yorkshire and the North East, said: “Steve is an experience­d, well-connected business leader and a brilliant addition to our regional team as we grow our membership base and support directors with first-class events and learning.”

Other IoD ambassador­s in Yorkshire include Caroline Pullich who leads Barclays Business and Corporate Bank and Wakefield businessma­n Hugh Taylor.

The IoD is a non-party political organisati­on with approximat­ely 35,000 members in the UK and overseas.
