Landscape innovation to be recognised
INNOVATIVE AND distinctive new developments that have been completed in the North York Moors over the past five years are to be celebrated at the National Park Authority’s Design Awards.
Landscaping work carried out in association with other projects will also be recognised for the first time since the awards were launched in 2010.
The awards, which are held every two years, recognise outstanding developments where extra consideration had been taken for aspects including materials, workmanship, level of innovation and overall appearance. The scheme aims to inspire excellence in the design of new buildings within the sensitive landscapes of the National Park.
Awards co-ordinator Briony Fox said: “We’re delighted to be able to add ‘best landscaping project’ as a sixth category to our award scheme for 2018. Since the competition first launched, the focus has been very much on the design and impact of new or improved buildings. Now however, we’ll also be looking at the level of care and attention paid to the immediate surroundings of the projects, and how these elements fit into the wider landscape of the North York Moors.”
Nominations close on Monday August 6 at www.northyork moors.org.uk/designawards.
