Overton will not face Yorkshire
CRICKET: England prospect Jamie Overton has been ruled out of Somerset’s Specsavers County Championship match against Yorkshire.
Overton has yet to appear for the first XI this season and will miss another chance to press his claims for international recognition by sitting out the four-day clash at Taunton, starting on Friday.
Scans have revealed a side strain, with head coach Jason Kerr explaining: “While the scan showed an injury it certainly could have been a lot worse.
“Jamie is feeling fine and pain free, but we will need to be careful with him.
“It has been termed a mild side strain and hopefully he will be available for selection again soon.”
Overton, whose twin brother Craig played three Tests over the winter, has been on England’s radar for a number of years due to his ability to generate genuine pace, but has yet to be capped.
