Fifth Back to Ours festival is launched

-

THE FIFTH Back to Ours festival, a project which takes theatre, music and other shows to Hull’s estates, will be launched today.

Last year’s line-up featured everyone from comedian Mark Thomas, , to Leeds band Pigeon Detectives and was one of the stand out successes of the year-long arts programme.

Director Louise Yates said: “Our fifth festival is packed full of shows that we know people will love.

“From aerial extravaganzas to incredible stories transporting you to far-off places, this May you can expect even more magical moments and laughs for the whole family.”

The festival transformed shopping centres, schools, community centres and clubs into backdrops for everything from live music and magic shows, to dizzying circus acts and film screenings. First produced for City of Culture and now one of 21 Arts Council-funded Creative People and Places networks across the country, Back to Ours is sporting a fresh new image. Ms Yates said: “Hull 2017 was only the beginning. It’s great to see that culture is continuing to be nurtured and enjoyed in all corners of our wonderful city. We’re really excited about what is yet to come.” Tickets will be on sale online and through remote box offices. Fifty per cent will be available online from 10am on Saturday; the remaining 50 per cent will be released at remote box offices every Saturday in the lead-up to the festival.
