Ticket demand is doubled for Barnsley’s final match

BARNSLEY are set to be backed by a sell-out travelling contingent of 2,700 away supporters in Sunday’s crunch Championship final-day game at Derby County.

The Reds, whose hopes of staving off the drop were massively enhanced after Saturday’s priceless 2-0 home win over Brentford, have requested a further allocation of around 1,300 tickets for the trip to Pride Park.

They are due to arrive at Oakwell this afternoon with the club to announce details of when they will be available to purchase.

An initial allocation of 1,400 tickets has already been purchased by Reds supporters, whose side moved out of the relegation positions thanks to Saturday’s dramatic events, and the new batch are also expected to be snapped up.

The Reds are ahead of thirdfrom-bottom Burton Albion on a vastly superior goal difference and a point clear of second-frombottom Bolton Wanderers going into the final day.

A win at Derby would guarantee Barnsley’s Championship survival with their fate being in their own hands thanks to the defeat of Brentford.

Christopher Schindler was a double winner at Huddersfield Town’s Player of the Year night, collecting the awards voted for both by his fellow players and the supporters.

Florent Hadergjonaj was named Young Player of the Year.

Sunderland first-team coach Robbie Stockdale will take charge for the final game of the Championship season against Wolves following Chris Coleman’s departure.

That has prompted speculation over the future use of the venue, including whether England could play matches in stadia around the country, just as they did when Wembley was being rebuilt from 2001 to 2007.
