-

THE PRINCESS Royal has been announced as a special guest at the Great Yorkshire show this summer.

Princess Anne, inset, will be at England’s top agricultural event on July 11 at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.

She will meet officials, competitors and exhibitors at the event, which is expected to attract 130,000 visitors over three days.

The director of the Great Yorkshire Show, Charlies Mills, said: “We are honoured by Her Royal Highness’s visit and it is always wonderful to welcome a visitor with such a genuine interest in farming and the countryside.

“We will be able to show the Princess some of the best animals in the country as well as the very best of rural life, food and farming.”

The 160th Great Yorkshire Show, which will be organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, will be held from July 10 to July 12. The annual event, which dates back to 1838, showcases competitive classes ranging from cattle to poultry and from international show jumping to cheese. More than 1,200 stands are expected at the event and regional produce will be on offer at its extensive food hall.

The Princes Royal has been a regular visitor to the show and was last a guest at the event in 2014.
