Star organists to perform at historic abbey
MUSICAL PERFORMANCES at the historic Selby Abbey will support its organ and recital programme.
Internationally acclaimed organists will perform at the abbey as part of a run of lunchtime concerts starting on June 26.
The series follows the restoration of the organ, which was completed last year following a fundraising appeal.
The concerts will take place every Tuesday at 12.30pm until July 31.
Each one is free to attend but there will be a retiring collection to support the organ and its recitals.
This year, The Selby Abbey Trust is also raising funds to restore roofs and gutters on the building, which was founded in 1069, for its 950th anniversary.
The Roof Appeal aims to collect £3m.
