‘Needle’ brandished in street robbery

A robber held glass to his victim’s cheek as his accomplice branded what was possibly a needle.

Police yesterday said the victim had withdrawn cash from a machine in Beverley Road in Hull at 5.30am before turning down Stepney Lane on May 24. After the assault, during which one robber stood in front holding what was thought to be a needle, the pair took the victim’s money and fled.
