Somerset top table after Notts suffer loss at Taunton
SOMERSET moved to the top of the Specsavers County Championship with a six-wicket win over Nottinghamshire at Taunton where Australian Matt Renshaw made another halfcentury.
The 22-year-old continued his impressive form this summer with 61 as Somerset chased down the victory target of 248 for a third Division One win in five matches, claiming 22 points.
George Bartlett made 43, and Tom Abell (46) and Steve Davies (44) were both unbeaten just short of half-centuries. Notts off-spinner Matt Carter returned three second-innings wickets for match figures of 8-95.
Earlier, Somerset seamer Josh Davey had completed his best Championship figures of 4-76 as Notts were finally bowled out for 505, following on, from an overnight 468-8.
At Edgbaston, Ian Bell completed two unbeaten centuries in a match as Warwickshire cemented their place at the top of Division Two with a four-wicket win over Glamorgan.
Bell followed his first innings 106 not out with an unbeaten 115, from 164 deliveries with 17 fours, to take his side to their target of 294 with 20 overs to spare.
At Emirates Riverside, Chris Rushworth took five wickets as Durham completed an improbable comeback against Derbyshire with a 95-run victory.
Rushworth finished with figures of 5-47 and Matt Salisbury took 4-69 to dismiss Derbyshire, resuming on 69-4 in pursuit of 268, for 172.
Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor both struck centuries as England beat South Africa by 69 runs at Hove to level their oneday series.
The current world champions had posted 331-6 from their 50 overs, with Beaumont (101) and Taylor (118) having built the mainstay of the innings after opener Amy Jones was out for 29.
Despite a rapid century from South Africa’s Lizelle Lee, who plundered 117 from 107 balls, England’s bowlers saw them home. Sophie Ecclestone took 3-54 from her 10 overs, with two each for Katherine Brunt and Laura Marsh.
