Artist creates parting gift for headteacher
A RETIRING teacher from Sheffield High School had a special parting gift when Steel City artist, Joe Scarborough, painted one of his city panorama masterpieces to mark her retirement.
Mr Scarborough was invited to Sheffield High School for Girls to paint a city panorama chronicle to help mark the retirement of headteacher Valerie Dunsford.
He chose some of the buildings, scenes and moments throughout Mrs Dunsford’s 14 years at the school, celebrating memories to create School Days, to help develop the school’s outreach programme as 500 limited edition prints, signed by the artist, are on sale for £40.
Mrs Dunsford said: “I was so honoured to receive the painting by Joe Scarborough, it is such a thoughtful gift and one which I will cherish.”
