Police action to tackle dangerous driving in city during Eid events

-

A POLICE operation to curb dangerous driving and illegally parked cars so that “residents are able to celebrate Eid in a safe environment” is to get under way in Bradford.

The operation starting today is co-ordinated by the Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), with support from Bradford Council West Area officers, councillors and residents

Building on the success from the last operation, which coincided with Eid in June, the Police will be targeting all kinds of dangerous driving, including speeding, drink/drug driving, mobile phone use and not wearing seatbelts.

Wardens will also be patrolling the area and any vehicles parked illegally will be issued with a fixed penalty notice, the City of Bradford Council said.

Chief Inspector Marc Adams, of Bradford District Police, said: “Following the positive feedback from residents and councillors after Operation Spittlemoor, we have decided to continue our focus on dangerous driving in Bradford West.

“By doing so we hope that residents are able to celebrate Eid in a safe environment.

“Anyone who drives at excessive speeds, use a mobile device whilst driving, drives in an anti-social, careless or dangerous manner is likely to face fines, penalty points and risk having their vehicles seized.

“We have to do all we can to reduce the number of road collisions and casualties.”

Councillor Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “I support the police’s determined efforts to tackle dangerous driving which is a real menace.”
