Lehman bankers’ reunion is none of McDonnell’s business

-

From: Tony Armitage, Fulwith Road, Harrogate.

I WONDER why John McDonnell, the left-wing Shadow Chancellor, takes such objection to the former employees of Lehman Brothers holding a reunion 10 years after they lost their jobs?

He considers this to be absolutely sickening, as an unspecified group and an unspecified number of people have suffered an unspecified level of austerity precisely over the past decade.

I just don’t see the connection.

These former employees of Lehman Brothers will no doubt be paying for this out of their taxed income, to the benefit of the hospitality sector and, in turn, the Government through the VAT on the costs thereof.

Mr McDonnell is himself keen on arranging and attending gatherings, but these are invariably at the expense of the taxpayer. In December 2013 at his talk at Goldsmiths, University of London, he encouraged the unions to use ‘insurrection’, while co-ordinating strikes to ‘bring this country to a standstill’,

Insurrection is defined as a “violent uprising” which makes his condemnation of this Lehman alumni totally bogus.

THERESA May is an expert at clinging on to power, but she is now a zombie Prime Minister and no one believes her. Indeed, no amount of propaganda can disguise the fact that the “Robbins” (Chequers) White Paper is a “revolvingdoor Remain” – out of the EU’s multilateral treaties, into new bi-lateral treaties and existing agreements.

It gets worse. Mrs May authorised two White Papers.

However she kept the Robbins paper secret until springing it as a surprise on her Cabinet at Chequers on July 6.

It gets still worse. A report from within the EU says that the UK Government had obtained the EU’s reaction, on July 5, to the UK paper apparently “within hours” courtesy of “British spies”. No one seems to have spotted this date anomaly. But it confirms that the EU had the Robbins paper well before the British Cabinet did. Mrs May has engineered a Remain coup d’etat. Everything else is theatre.

ALL this useless wittering about minor adjustments to the British economy stemming from a Brexit with or without EU agreement. But what follows? An election, and if Jeremy Corbyn gets in, the economy will be destroyed. Look out Venezuela – here we come!
