Ghost Orchid walks down Fruit Market aisles

-

A NEW bridal boutique is to open its doors at the Fruit Market, in Hull’s waterfront quarter, bringing a blend of exclusive designer gowns, independent labels and unconventional wedding fashion.

Ghost Orchid Bride is the latest business to join the Fruit Market. The business is the brainchild of former Hull School of Art and Design fashion student Katey Headley.

Ghost Orchid Bride boasts fashion-conscious clients from as far afield as Ibiza and Dubai.

Ms Headley said: “I’m really looking forward to moving to the Fruit Market. For me, it’s a place I love going to and every time I visit there’s something new and exciting popping up.

“Our style is bohemian, urban and contemporary, so Humber Street is the perfect place to reach our target audience – fashion-oriented brides who want a luxurious yet modern vibe.

“The Fruit Market is such a vibrant and creative place to be. Many brides come from out of town so they’ll be able to experience the area and make a day of it, rather than just visit the shop and then leave.”

Ghost Orchid Bride will join other independent retail operators at the Fruit Market, including Cocoa Chocolatier and Patisserie, vintage fashion brand Poorboy Boutique and hair salon Mousey Brown’s.

Ghost Orchid Bride is looking to open before Christmas and will offer a hand-picked collection of designer wedding gowns, accessories and bridesmaid dresses.

“The Fruit Market is full of like-minded creative businesses – I’m counting the days to our opening day,” Ms Headley said.

Ghost Orchid Bride will open in No. 22 Humber Street, one of four units being constructed to fill a gap left by the demolition of dilapidated buildings which were beyond repair.

Ms Headley started her business in Hessle two years ago. The 1,000 sq ft unit will enable her to expand her business.

The £80m revival of the Fruit Market is being driven by regeneration company Wykeland Group and residential developer Beal Homes.

The two firms have formed a joint venture company, Wykeland Beal, to breathe new life into the Fruit Market, in partnership with Hull City Council.
