Chance for questions on city’s health plan

-

HEALTH CHIEFS from across Leeds will answer questions about the future of health and social care services in the city.

Under radical plans for NHS, council and charity organisations to work together, people are being urged to find out about changes to the system.

At an event at Leeds Kirkgate Market on Thursday, the city’s health bosses will answer questions and address how long-term health conditions will be tackled.

Hannah Davies, chief executive, of Healthwatch Leeds, the city’s health and social care watchdog, said: “At the event we will be asking very open questions to people about living in Leeds and being happy and healthy here.

“This is the first time that, as a system, health and care have come together in an open public space. It’s about all of us working together to get the best healthcare for Leeds.

“What are our priorities? What are people’s ideas and what are their experiences?

“How can we make Leeds the best place for health and wellbeing?”

The event has been organised as part of the city’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy, a blueprint for how future services will be delivered as NHS organisations face rising demand from patients.

Rebecca Charlwood, who chairs the city’s Health and Wellbeing Board: “It’s an exciting time for health and wellbeing in this city and we’re putting the people of Leeds at the heart of our transformation.

“Everybody has a part to play in turning our ambition of being the best city for health into a reality.”
