District’s fitness sites to be improved with council grant
A DISTRICT COUNCIL is giving a £25,000 cash injection to fitness facilities in North Yorkshire.
Richmond Leisure Trust will receive a grant totalling £25,356 from Richmondshire District Council to improve gym equipment at three of its sites – Richmond Swimming Pool, Liberty Health Club and Colburn Leisure Centre.
The work supports the results of a recent customer satisfaction survey on the sites – plus the South Park Café. More than 300 people took part in the annual consultation, commenting on how often they use facilities and which they use, cleanliness, value for money, staff helpfulness and friendliness, availability and health and safety.
And the results showed that almost all of them use the facilities once, twice or three times a week – with swimming and the gym the most popular.
The majority – 92 per cent – commented on how friendly and helpful the trust’s staff are and 81 per cent customers felt they received good value for money.
Richmondshire Leisure Trust is now analysing the comments and survey results but have already taken action with the funding from Richmondshire District Council’s Social Fund.
The council’s deputy leader Ian Threlfall said: “The £25,356 we have allocated will go some way towards the improvements customers asked for – as well as helping to lever in other grant funding for this work.”
