Buttler the star in Thunder triumph

CRICKET: Jos Buttler was in impressive form with the bat once again as Sydney Thunder secured a one-run Big Bash League victory over Perth Scorchers.

The England wicketkeeperbatsman amassed 55 off 54 balls at the top of the order in an innings that included four fours and one six and ended when he hit his own wicket off Jhye Richardson.

His England captain and Thunder team-mate was less impressive, however, as Joe Root managed only five from four deliveries in his side’s 142-6.

Yorkshire all-rounder David Willey contributed little to the Scorchers’ reply, conceding eight off his only over and then making seven with the bat.
