Disgraced Harris asked to leave the grounds of a school near his home

-

DISGRACED ENTERTAINER Rolf Harris was asked to leave after he walked on to the grounds of a primary school near his home.

The convicted sex offender, who was jailed for five years and nine months in 2014 and released on licence in May 2017, went on to the premises of Oldfield Primary School in Bray, Berkshire, reportedly to talk to a sculptor working in the grounds.

In a statement, headmaster Richard Jarrett said: “In line with our standard procedures, an uninvited individual was asked to leave the outer perimeter of the school site yesterday, which he did without delay. At no time did any of our pupils come into contact with the individual, nor was the individual invited by us on to school grounds. As a precaution, the incident has been reported to the Thames Valley Police.”

Harris declined to answer journalists’ questions about what he was doing at the school when he left his gated home near the Thames yesterday.

Two police community support officers were on duty in the area as pupils arrived for lessons.

A Ministry of Justice spokeswoman said officials were looking into the matter and “appropriate action” would be taken.

He said: “When sex offenders are released they are subject to strict licence conditions and are liable to be returned to custody for breaching them.”

Thames Valley Police said: “A report was made that a man was on the site of the school. An officer attended the scene but no offence was committed. No arrests were made.”

Harris was convicted of 12 historical indecent assaults in June 2014. One of the convictions was overturned on appeal.
