School debate team success

HECKMONDWIKE: Students have reached the semi-final of a national debating championship after travelling to Manchester to compete in the second round of the Mace competition.

Three Heckmondwike Grammar School students, Maisy Nicholls, Eleanor Falshaw and Leo Beevors, took part in the debate against teams from five other schools.

In feedback, Year 10 pupil Maisy’s speech was judged to be the best of the evening.
