Child athlete’s bright future
THE INQUEST heard that Scott Marsden had been training as a kickboxer since he was as young as four years old and had been competing since he was eight.
The teenager’s father, Simon, runs a gym in Sheffield. In a statement read to the coroner’s court yesterday, Scott’s mother, Jo, said that her son “had a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone”.
Scott trained at the Marsden’s All Styles Kickboxing club in Hillsborough, and was a pupil at Forge Valley School. After his death, headteacher Dale Barrowclough said Scott would have had a “very bright sporting future” ahead of him.
