Time to scrap poor deals and support British industries

-

From: Coun Tony Galbraith (Con), Chantreys Drive, Elloughton, Brough.

TONY Rossiter, as a former negotiator with the EU on our behalf, lauds the benefits of EU membership (The Yorkshire Post, February 7). He makes some fair points but some of the benefits are available to non-EU states, such as Norway and Switzerland, and others are more beneficial to the continental EU states than to the UK.

I’m afraid, though, that much of the present difficulty is due to the appalling deal that the UK has had as a member state and this must be down to Mr Rossiter, his fellow negotiators and his political masters of the time.

Does Mr Rossiter recognise the statistics, as published by the EU Commission itself, that the UK ranks 24th out of 28 as a beneficiary of the Single Market?

Does he recognise the comment published in a paper produced for the CBI that “trade between EU member states is clearly a zero-sum game and we are really only talking about where the factories are built”? The factories were evidently not built in the UK!

To my mind, the only answer is for the UK to leave the EU and scrap the deals negotiated by Mr Rossiter and his colleagues. We could then adopt policies designed to support British industries rather than continental ones.

AT last we, the British, are able to see the true face of the unelected bureaucrats who rule the EU. The mask of reasonableness and decency has slipped away, and the hatred with which these charlatans regard our beautiful country has been exposed.

Donald Tusk seems certain 17.4 million Brits who voted to leave the EU will be cast into hell come judgment day. I know that he and his colleague, Guy Verhofstadt, seem to have a very special dislike of the British.

Fortunately neither of them, despite their powerful positions within the EU hierarchy, have the God-given right to cast all Brexiteers into the fiery pits of hell.

It is truly astonishing that the President of the EU would even consider using such disgusting language to express his obvious hatred of the majority of the British people who want to escape from his regime. To say that his language is undiplomatic is to underestimate the damage he has inflicted on our national pride.

DONALD Tusk has just helped Leave win any second referendum on Brexit. The fool.
