Police ‘not stopping’ their hunt for Libby

-

POLICE LAST night said they “aren’t stopping” their searches for missing student Libby Squire as the hunt for her moved into the 12th day.

The 21-year-old Hull University philosophy student was last seen on January 31.

Officers say they have had hundreds of uniformed officers and about 50 detectives working around the clock to try and find her.

A Humberside Police spokesman said there have been three specialist search advisers overseeing the search, nearly a dozen underwater officers taking part, dog teams, support from neighbouring forces, plus search and rescue teams, fire service, air search teams and the coastguards.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “We thank you all for coming together alongside us while we search for Libby day and night.”

Yesterday neighbourhood teams visited the University, Cottingham Road, and Newland Avenue areas to provide reassurance, take part in searches and speak with people about Libby’s disappearance.

As part of a weekly police surgery at the University of Hull, police gave safety advice and posters to students.

At the weekend, Libby’s parents attended a prayer vigil at the Hull Community Church in Hull.

Police say a man arrested in connection with Libby’s disappearance “remains under investigation”.
