Tickets go on sale for springtime spectacular

-

CHILDREN WILL be given the chance to meet some of the season’s newly-born farmyard animals at the Great Yorkshire Showground this spring.

Tickets will go on sale for this year’s Springtime Live at the Harrogate venue on Friday.

The celebration of rural life will be held in April and will offer families the chance to gain close-up access to livestock, from chicks, lambs, piglets and calves, to goats, sheep and alpacas. New to this year’s event will be free mini tractors donated by Ripon Farm Services that children will be able to ride on around an indoor circuit.

Among the other attractions will be demonstrations, handson workshops and a stage show held throughout the day featuring Mr Bloom from CBeebies and his band.

There will also be opportunities for visitors to hold newborn chicks and to learn more about them with Eggucation, the Sheffieldbased school chick hatching project.

Reptiles and bugs will be among the more exotic exhibits and there will be more entertainment for families including a bike track, a climbing wall, a bouncy castle and ‘‘digger den’’, forest crafts and a theatre workshop with the Pauline Quirke Academy.

Charles Mills, the show’s director at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, said: “This will be our sixth Springtime Live and it gets more and more popular every year.

“This is a real family event which showcases farming and rural life through hands on activities and entertainment.”

Due to the popularity of the event, which will be staged on April 13 from 9am to 4.30pm, entry is by advance ticket only.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children, with family tickets for two adults and three children priced at £27.

They can be purchased online via www.springtimelive.co.uk or from Fodder, the showground’s farm shop cafe.
