Selco to create 200 new jobs across UK thanks to £30m investment

BUILDING MERCHANT Selco Builders Warehouse has announced a £30m investment in its business which it says will create 200 jobs.

The investment will see the opening of at least two – and up to four – new branches this year, each creating a minimum of 50 jobs. In addition it is to undertake a major refurbishm­ent of nine existing branches as well as a significan­t investment in its online operations.

Selco has four branches in Yorkshire, including two in Leeds, one in Bradford and one in York.

Howard Luft, Selco chief executive, said: “It is impossible to watch television, listen to the radio or read the news headlines without being consumed by Brexit doom and gloom.

“While there may be challenges ahead, at Selco we continue to see a buoyant marketplac­e and we are taking real, tangible strides towards investment and expansion, creating more jobs across the country.

“We are currently working towards opening up to four new branches in strategic locations this year.

“Furthermor­e, we will be spending significan­t money to refurbish nine of our branches, improving conditions considerab­ly for our valued customers.

“These are exciting times for the business.

“The company has rapid expansion over the last decade, and we are determined to continue moving forward.”

Mr Luft said that significan­t funds will be ploughed into a new click and deliver initiative, offering free delivery on all orders.
