Cool Muldoon wins it late for Harrogate

-

FOOTBALL: A penalty from Jack Muldoon four minutes into stoppage-time lifted Harrogate Town back into the League playoff positions as Bromley were sunk in dramatic fashion.

Simon Weaver’s side twice struck the woodwork, but looked as if they would have to settle for a point until top-scorer Muldoon calmly decided matters from 12 yards.

The first half was played at a frantic pace with Harrogate shading matters in terms of chances created, though the visitors also looked a threat.

Omar Bugiel spurned the visitors’ best chance of the opening period, heading wide from Brendan SarpongWiredu’s dangerous right-wing.

At the other end,Jack Emmett’s 20-yarder was turned behind by David Gregory before George Thomson cut in off the left and rifled a shot against the foot of the near post.

Thomson then tried his luck from close to halfway after cutting out a poor Gregory clearance, but the visiting goalkeper recovered in time to pounce on the ball.

Lloyd Kerry was next to threaten, forcing Gregory to save, and Warren Burrell went closer still after the resumption, chesting down a 69th-minute right-wing corner and lashing a shot off the crossbar.

With time almost up the hosts launched a hpeful ball into the box and referee Joe Hull spotted a handball. After a long delay Muldoon sent Gregory the wrong way from the spot. Victory lifts Harrogate to sixth.
