Hotels book a place in tourism awards

-

YORKSHIRE ACCOMMODATION sites have been revealed as winners in a tourism organisation’s fifth annual ROSE Awards.

The VisitEngland scheme honours hostels, hotels, self-catering sites, parks, bed and breakfasts and others across England who provide outstanding customer service for their visitors, irrespective of their star rating.

In Yorkshire, winners in the guest accommodation category were Avondale Guest House, The Barn and Tower Guest House in York, Cambridge House, Reeth, Crosby House, Hawes, Cundall Lodge Farm, Boroughbridge, Kilburn Guest House and Mont Millais in Bridlington.

Regional winners in the selfcatering category were Greenwood Close, Pateley Bridge, and Lawsons Studio, Leyburn.

Morndyke Shepherds Huts, Thirsk, was a winner in the ‘‘glamping’’ section, while The North Star Hotel, Flamborough was awarded in the category for hotels.

VisitEngland director Andrew Stokes said: “England has an outstanding range of accommodation options, from rooms in a 17th century castle in Cornwall to a shepherd’s hut on a working farm in Yorkshire, from an eco-lodge on the Isle of Wight to bustling metropolitan hotels, there really is something for everyone. The ROSE Awards highlights those businesses who go above and beyond for their customers, providing the highest levels of customer service and ensuring repeat business, driving visitor growth and boosting local economies.” Nominations are triggered following annual quality assessment visits but other evidence, including online customer reviews, are taken into account. The awards presentation took place at the Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa at The Mansion House in Bedfordshire yesterday.
