Scotch Corner retail park to create 1,000 jobs by next year
MORE THAN 1,000 jobs are set to be created with a new retail and leisure centre in North Yorkshire.
The Scotch Corner Designer Village will open in Autumn 2021 and bring up to 92 fashion brands to the region, including Tommy Hilfiger, BOSS, Calvin Klein, Adidas and Levi’s; high-street brands such as Gap, Clarks, Moss Bros, Mint Velvet, Brook Taverner, Joules, Regatta and Skechers; and a number of independent labels and local designers.
It will offer food retailers, including Wagamama and Five Guys, and specially designed leisure and sporting facilities are in the pipeline.
A spokesperson said more details on this would be published over the coming months.
Simon Waterfield, developer and co-owner of Scotch Corner Richmond LLP, said: “Scotch Corner Designer Village is an incredibly exciting project.
“We are on track to open the leading outlet retail and leisure destination in the North of England in 2021 and are also proud to be championing local brands and businesses and offering our future customers exciting outlet brands to discover.
“Community is also at the heart of our vision and we look forward to creating some 330 jobs during construction and more than 1,000 permanent new jobs once we open.”
Parking spaces for 1,350 cars, including 150 dedicated electric vehicle charging bays, are also included in the plan.
Future ambitions beyond Scotch Corner Designer Village’s launch include an extensive garden centre.
