Green keen to have the last word over Hull FC

-

WAKEFIELD TRINITY prop Chris Green has silenced his former Hull FC team-mates off the pitch and is now looking to do so on it.

The rangy front-row, 30, faces his old club tonight for the first time since leaving them last August.

Previously, Green had played his entire career with Hull, making almost 150 appearances and winning two Challenge Cups, before initially moving on loan to Trinity and then completing a two-year permanent deal.

He suffered an ankle injury on Wakefield’s pre-season training trip to Spain in January and missed the start of this campaign but made his return in Sunday’s win at Salford Red Devils.

Coach Chris Chester will now give him chance to run out against the Black and Whites and Green admitted: “I am looking forward to it. Obviously, I got some minutes under my belt against Salford and it’s not the way I’d wanted it to go at the beginning of pre-season.

“But it was good to be out there and good to enjoy a win as well.

“It’s good that this (facing Hull) has come quickly as well on the back of a Sunday game.

“It will be a bit strange but it’s something I’m looking forward to and building on from last week.”

Asked if there had been much chat with his former team-mates in the build-up to tonight’s game at Belle Vue, Green replied: “No.

“I’ve blocked them all on my phone so they can’t get in contact with me!

“No, seriously, I’ve been looking forward to this game for a while – ever since I signed – and I am looking forward to getting out there and getting stuck in.”

Hull made some significant signings for 2020, not least New Zealand Warriors prop Chris Satae, who essentially arrived as a

replacement for Green last August, plus Ligo Sao and Manu Ma’u from the NRL.

They won their opening two matches but have gone on to lose their next three encounters, intensifying the glare on Lee Radford and his side.

“It’s a bit open isn’t it these

opening rounds and I think when the tracks dry up a bit things will change,” offered Green.

“But all the pressure is on them. “I just want to do my job in the middle.

“I think we’re well capable of getting on top and going on to some successful things this year.”
