Clipper extends its PPE services to GPs and social care
CLIPPER LOGISTICS, which distributes goods for John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Asda and Morrisons, has developed an e-fulfilment solution to allow GP surgeries and adult social care providers to order items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) online.
The Leeds-based firm has worked with the NHS Supply Chain, the Ministry of Defence, and eBay to develop the new solution.
An e-commerce platform has been built, which will enable GPs and small social care homes and home care providers to log on and order items of PPE through a dedicated portal.
Clipper will receive and fulfil these orders, which will be delivered by Royal Mail.
Steve Parkin, executive chairman at Clipper, said: “We are pleased to be able to continue to support the NHS in its efforts to ensure that PPE can be distributed effectively to the wider health and social care sector, enabling those organisations to operate safely whilst caring for those in need during these challenging times.
“My continued thanks go to all of our colleagues for their dedication and support, and to our partners who have worked collaboratively with us to deliver this solution.”
Analyst Peter Ashworth, at Shore Capital, said: “This update follows previous announcements last month regarding the additional support the group is providing to various UK supply chains across a range of sectors as well as the previous work with NHS Hospital Trusts highlighted earlier.
“We see this development as positive for the group, demonstrating its agility in reacting Earlier this month, Clipper joined forces with Leeds United Foundation and Leeds City Council to deliver essential food packages to vulnerable families who need extra support during the coronavirus pandemic.

As the warmer weather approaches, the council said requests for food parcels are increasing and the refrigerated trailer will support an increase in chilled storage capacity at the council’s Leeds warehouse.
The food bank is sited inside the warehouse, where food is taken in, sorted into food parcels and then distributed.
